Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey the award-winning super premium whiskey from Tennessee and the first spirit brand in history to commemorate an African-American is excited to announce the launch of its first single barrel whiskey in the United States. An 11-year-old offering, Uncle Nearest 1820 Nearest Green™ Single-Barrel Edition, will launch today at 12 pm EST. The brand, seemingly 160-years in the making, revived the little-known story of Nathan “Nearest” Green, the first known African-American master distiller. Uncle Nearest 1820 commemorates the year Uncle Nearest is believed to have been born in Maryland.
Following the wildly successful debut of the company’s Nathan Green 1870 Single Barrel in the UK last year, which sold out within moments of its announcement, its sister barrel Uncle Nearest 1820 launches stateside on the 154th anniversary of Congress passing the 13th Amendment paving the way for Tennessee’s premier master distiller, Nearest Green, to be free to do things his way, the right way, with excellence. His choice was to continue distilling America's most premium whiskey.
